Lana Del Rey, New York’s sensational indie pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Frank Erwin Center!
Lana Del Rey (birth name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) was born in New York City in 1985 and is a singer, songwriter, and model. Her musical style is best described as a blend of baroque pop (a subgenre of pop that blends classical music, orchestral pop, rock, and Baroque music and features contrapuntal melodies, functional harmony patterns, and dramatic or melancholic gestures), dream pop (a subgenre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia that developed in the 1980s), trip hop (a subgenre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, as an experimental variant of breakbeat), rock, and indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free). She’s had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 23 music videos, 5 extended plays, and 20 singles. She’s received many accolades including 2 BRIT Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, 2 MTV Europe Music Awards, and 3 Grammy Award nominations. Her latest album (Lust for Life) comes out on 21st July 2017.
